Automation

Varco Electric uses a 3rd generation SCADA software that offers true state-of-the-art client/server architecture with an online object-oriented database to obtain information from remote locations anywhere in the world.  The systems can start small and can grow without re-engineering.

Data can be brought in from anywhere in the world.  Different types of communication equipment allow us you connect to even the most remote locations.

The SCADA software is capable of many different configurations.  The information that can be collected is only limited to the sensors that you have in the field.

In SCADA, you can view the trends, live video, and lists of data.  All points within the SCADA software are held in a real-time database.  Each point stores several attributes such as value, data quality, alarm limits, over range indication, data time-stamp, previous values and point statistics.

Alarm redirection supports business rules to ensure the right user(s) are alerted at the right time when critical events occur in the system.  The trigger condition is generally an alarm; either individual, group or severity level, and if after a predefined time delay when the condition has not cleared or acknowledged, a notification will be sent to the user via email, pager, voice or SMS (text) message. Tank levels can send alarms or turn on pumps automatically.  Compessors can send an alarm when they go down.

Trends can be displayed for any point within the SCADA software.  Trends provide a history of each point in the system and allow two or more points to be compared.

Reports are developed using industry standard 'Crystal Reports'.

The SCADA software security is done through the object level.  User management is through individual user accounts and groups.  Security policy includes minimum password length, aging, dictionary and inactivity logout. All actions of a user are tracable.
